Back to School: Send Them Covered

The first day of school is almost here. The supply lists are (mostly) conquered, the new shoes are still white, and somewhere in Mississippi a mama is crying in a minivan. We see you.

Sending kids into a new school year is no small thing. New teachers, new friend groups, new pressures — and our kids walk into all of it carrying whatever confidence we managed to pack into them over the summer.

Ephesians 6 tells us to put on the whole armor of God — the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith. We can't walk the halls with our kids (they would die of embarrassment anyway), but we can send them dressed for the battle that actually matters. Pray over them in the truck line. Slip a verse in the lunchbox. Let them see YOU standing on truth when things get hard, because they learn armor by watching it worn.

A few of our families have made a small tradition we love: a Nailed It decal on the water bottle or laptop that goes to school every day. It's a quiet reminder in a loud building — for their kid, and for every kid who sees it — that grace already won.

To every student, teacher, bus driver, and cafeteria worker starting back this month: we're praying for you. Genuinely. This year has purpose in it that you can't see from the first-day parking lot.

Send them covered. God goes where we can't.
